Glenn Jackson Bridge: This huge structure is the most recent major bridge in Portland, completed
in 1982, carrying I-205 across the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington.
The four-lane structure is 11,750 feet long and crosses over Government
Island in the middle of the river.
The bridge is named after Glenn Jackson, powerful head of the Oregon
Highway Commission for many years who was in charge of building Oregon's
Interstate freeways, among other things.
