This Photo: A chiropractor starting a new practice in NE Portland thought this photo looked like a spine, so he bought a large print for the lobby of his office. His name is Dr. Bryan Bingham, and he's also a really nice guy (not just because he bought my picture!). If I ever need a chiropractor he'll be the first one I'll call. You can contact him via his website at www.highlandchiropractic.net.

Fremont Bridge: Finished in 1973, this is Portland's newest bridge over the Willamette. The double-decked Fremont Bridge connects northbound I-405 and westbound US-30 to I-5. It weighs 6,000 tons and was lifted 170 feet - a Guinness Book of World Records entry for heaviest lift ever made at the time.  The tied arch span is 902 feet long and was not built on-site but floated on the river into place. This Shoot: Bridge Pedal is an annual event that happens on a Sunday morning, where cyclists can ride their bikes on all the Portland Bridges, including the Fremont and Marquam Bridges, both normally prohibited to bicycles and pedestrians. So this is a rare time to enjoy a ride or even a walk across the terrific Fremont Bridge. This was a beautiful morning for it, obviously.
