Glenn Jackson Bridge: This huge structure is the most recent major bridge in Portland, completed in 1982, carrying I-205 across the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. The four-lane structure is 11,750 feet long and crosses over Government Island in the middle of the river.
This Shoot: Your best view of the Glenn Jackson Bridge is from the air, so whenever I get a window seat in an airplane, I try to photograph it. On this rainy day, the pictures in fact came out pretty clear; on sunny days, you get a bit of haze when shooting from the air. Some of the other shots are somewhere in the South Dakota or Montana, I believe. The ultimate destination was Cincinnati.
