Morrison Bridge: Finished in 1958, the Morrison Bridge, a drawbridge, lies north of the Hawthorne Bridge and south of the Burnside Bridge downtown. The east side approaches are Belmont Street and Morrison Street; the west side approaches are Washington Street and Alder Street. This bridge replaced an earlier bridge built in the 1890's.
The Morrison Bridge is not lit most of the year anymore - only around the December holidays.
This Shoot: Portland's Morrison Bridge has been lit for almost 20 years by expensive, hard-to-maintain lights that since 2001 have been on only in December. In February 2007 new energy-efficient lights were installed, and the bridge was re-lit on February 14, 2007, year round one we hope, for several hours per night.
